Frequently Asked Questions
I've read that any person can dispute a credit report item. Why do I need you?
Disputing a credit report seems easy. Getting results is the tough part. The credit bureaus would rather have you do it because history shows that most consumers will give up or not follow instructions properly. Some consumers even confirm negative items. The reason to hire a professional is to put an experienced team to work for you. We maintain a staff of trained professionals working on your behalf. Our customers tell us time and time again how happy they are with the success we generate for them.

How do I pay for your services?
We require that you have a checking or savings account or a credit card or debit card. You pay us a small agreed upon fee using these accounts.
TOP ^
What if I pay off my past due and charge off accounts. Will it show "PAID" and no longer be negative?
Paying your debt is always a good idea as there are only 3 ways to get out of debt in the United States; Pay, Go Bankrupt or Die. But the paying of debt only shows that it's paid. It does not improve your history of bad debt. We help you repair your credit history, because that's what is dragging you down.
TOP ^
If you succeed in deleting negative items won't they just come right back on?
This is a myth spread by the credit bureaus. The law says if an item is not re-reported within 30 days of being deleted it must remain off a report. However if the item is sold to a collection agency, they, as a new creditor could put the item back on in the future.
TOP ^
Are there negative items such as bankruptcies, foreclosures, and liens that are impossible to remove?
Through our process we have successfully removed any kind of item you can think of. Every kind of negative listing can be repaired or removed from a credit report under the right circumstances. Some items are more difficult to repair and may take a while to fix. Part of this depends on the internal systems in use at each credit bureau.
TOP ^
How long can a negative item remain on your report?
This issue has caused much confusion over the years. Almost every "expert" has an opinion on this issue. The law states that an item can remain for 7 years after last date of report before removal (10 years for certain bankruptcies). If you refer to the law it is in the Fair Credit Reporting Act 15 USC C section 605C.
TOP ^
If I decide to declare bankruptcy can't I restart my credit
Yes, but it may take 7 to 10 years or longer. If you are discharged from a bankruptcy we can help you but it usually takes more then the 6 to 8 MONTHS. (10 to 12 months avg.)
TOP ^
Can I file a 100 word statement on my credit report?
Absolutely but most creditors pay no attention to these so called statements.
TOP ^
What about these ads I've seen that say they can get me a whole new credit file started without any negatives showing?
These claims usually involve an illegal option or are scams that just rip you off. For example, they may recommend that you get an employer identification number (EIN) to divert attention from your current credit record.
TOP ^
If I build enough good credit will it offset my bad credit?
Any bad credit is bad and will probably prevent you from building good credit or any credit at all.
TOP ^
Is it legal to repair your credit and have items removed?
The Fair Credit Reporting Act of 1971 as updated in 1997 gave consumers the right to have an item repaired or removed that was inaccurate, obsolete or unverifiable.
TOP ^
Will consumer credit counseling repair my credit?
Most credit counseling services are affiliated with creditors. They usually work with you to pay off debt. They have nothing to do with the credit bureaus
TOP ^
How hard is it to repair my own credit?
Some people try to repair their own credit. But how long can you afford to wait for real progress? We are the pros and we have a ten-year success rate. We've built our business by helping people like you repair their credit quickly and inexpensively.
TOP ^
What do I do if the credit bureaus fail to remove bona fide mistakes? Do I have any legal recourse?
Absolutely, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it. We have found that bona fide mistakes come off rather easily, but on occasion require legal action on your part. If that became necessary we would point you in the right direction.
TOP ^
How long do the credit bureaus have to respond to a dispute?
The Fair Credit Reporting Act states that credit bureaus have a reasonable time period to respond. This is usually 30 to 40 calendar days
TOP ^
How do the bureaus answer the disputes of the negative items?
This is a very interesting question. Sometimes the credit bureaus don't answer at all and some times they send a stall letter. They have also been known to send a letter trying to entice you to not use an outside agent to do this. The most common answer or the one we are looking for is a new credit report issued showing changed. In any case you will need to send us anything you get and call us if you get nothing. It's also important for you not to have any contact with the bureaus while we are working for you.
TOP ^
What if one credit bureau repairs an item and another one does not?
Each credit bureau works independently. We will continue to work on the bureau that still carries the item.
